What happened

The 24 listed space pure plays with a computed market cap were worth US$2.22T at the Oct 2, 2026 close, up US$177.1B (+8.7%) from the Sep 28 close. SpaceX (SPCX) accounts for 94.4% of that total, and for all of the week’s increase: without SpaceX, the other 23 companies were worth US$125.0B, down US$368M (−0.3%) over the same four sessions. The remaining 25 pure plays on the list have no US exchange listing and so no computed value.

SpaceX rose 9.3% to US$2.10T, a gain of US$177.4B. Among the rest, Planet Labs (PL) rose 4.2% to US$6.4B and Rocket Lab (RKLB) 2.4% to US$44.2B, the largest gain in dollars after SpaceX at US$1.0B. The largest declines by percent were Sidus Space (SIDU), down 10.1% to US$184M, Momentus (MNTS), down 7.9% to US$81M, Starfighters Space (FJET), down 7.0% to US$95M, and Voyager Technologies (VOYG), down 6.9% to US$1.9B. By dollars, AST SpaceMobile (ASTS) lost the most, US$990M (−4.2%) to US$22.7B. The order of the top 20 by market cap did not change between the two sessions.

Tracked companies made 46 SEC filings between Sep 26 and Oct 3, 2026, 31 of them Form 4 insider reports. Among the 8-Ks: Voyager Technologies filed on Sep 28 that it had issued US$402.5M of 0% convertible senior notes due Oct 15, 2032, convertible at an initial price of about US$40.82 per share (filing page). EchoStar (ECHO), a company with a space division rather than a pure play, filed on Oct 2 that its subsidiary DISH DBS emerged from Chapter 11 on Oct 1, 2026 with about US$4.35B less debt (filing page). Starfighters Space filed on Oct 2 that it had raised its chief executive’s base salary from US$108,000 to US$350,000 and its chief financial officer’s from US$180,000 to US$300,000, effective Sep 28 (filing page), and Sidus Space filed on Sep 29 that director Jeffrey Shuman had retired from its board (filing page). No tracked company filed an S-1, F-1 or 424B4 in these dates.

Next week’s calendar, from Launch Library 2 and SEC EDGAR: SpaceX has two Falcon 9 launches listed as no earlier than Oct 5 (SDA Tranche 1 Transport Layer A) and Oct 10 (Starlink Group 15-25), and its prospectus schedules a lock-up release on Oct 9, 2026, day 120 after the prospectus date (SEC EDGAR). Launch dates move often; the live list is on the calendar.
